Plastering the Cathedral Ceiling
Cleaning and scraping the ceiling on the upper level is complete and Linkous has begun to plaster these specific areas. This photo is taken from the middle of the Nave looking southwest to the wall with the windows of the parishes that made up the original Diocese of Tennessee. We hope to create a photo log of these windows while we can access them at this level.
You will also find that a few areas along the west wall of the Cathedral have been pressure washed. This is simply a test to view the difference between washing the surface with water and washing the surface with the proposed chemical. In the end, both water and a chemical will be used to clean the surface, but studying the results at this lower level will give us a better picture of the final product. The process will begin at the top of the Cathedral and move downward.
Linkous has begun its work on the Bell Tower and broken through the roof membrane to fix those "Holy Holes" that were creating the water problems, that beget the roof problems, which in turn beget the peeling of the plaster.
